El Perro que salió del frío
Oil on paper
2008

Somewhat realistic. Sassy. Very vulgar. Don't like it.

The key is in the dog's look. It's very sensitive to small changes to the shape of its eyelids. Any small change and the dog goes either melancholic or mad. Painting emotions is a very subtle art.

I would like to try it again later, but this time rougher, with less strokes. But I still wanna find out how to get this dog to truly communicate something more profound than the thrills one usually gets from reading National Geographic.

"It is said that man condemned to death are subject to sudden moments of elation; as if, like moths in the fire, their destruction were coincidental with attainment."
--John Le Carré (The Spy who came in from the cold)

ps: I've just realized I forgot to paint its whiskers. Dope!
