My first nude... it feels like it belongs in another century!
This is the first scene from a larger project I'm getting started on. I wanted to try colors over the compound green background.
The pose (girl holding bed linen) is based on something I saw from Cézanne. The body shaping is a monochromatic thing I learned from a video. Just layering shades progressively built the model's body. She is so alive! I felt like I was giving birth to her as I would switch from dark to light. That's why some ancient religions prohibited artists to depict human beings. Because that, they would preach, was solely the work of the gods.
Her body color is a mix of sap green and titan rose (complementaries), and white for the different shades. Also there is a little cadmium lemon yellow added to the mix to achieve some nuances on her body.
My girlfriend asked me if the girl is smelling her armpit. My answer is: probably.
