The background was done with my cadmium orange and black smoke. Black gives a very rough, dirty tone that are very similar to the tones I use to get with a wet, moldy brick scraped against a white wall when I was growing up in Brazil.

I painted this one listening to Radiohead's Bodysnatchers (In Rainbows):

Has the light gone out for you?

and it brought me to my knees.
